EAT THE RAINBOW
The week of February 10th students will be offered a wide variety of fruits and vegetables to eat each day. It is our hope that students will learn about what the different colors do for our bodies, by enjoying the fruits and veggies that they already love, as well as some that they may not have tried before. Check out the attached letter from Mr. Hutchings about the upcoming program as well information on how you can help!

Flu Season Update
Influenza activity in Maine is now widespread with providers reporting laboratory-confirmed influenza in all sixteen counties. Maine’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL) confirmed influenza A/pH1N1, influenza A/H3, influenza B/Victoria, and influenza B/Yamagata are all circulating in Maine. Maine CDC has followed up on nine (9) outbreaks of influenza as of Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
With increased influenza activity, it is not too late to get vaccinated. Influenza vaccination is the best way to prevent illness. Vaccination is strongly encouraged throughout the season and is still widely encouraged. I want you to know that I get valuable information from the CDC, and several other sources and will always share the latest info when it could be helpful. Please do remember I want every child in school every possible day they can be here, but NOT WHEN THEY ARE SICK. In order to lessen the spread of diseases, it is critical to isolate children when you feel they may have something contagious, and Influenza is highly contagious. Signs and symptoms of the flu include fever, dry cough, sore throat, headache, muscle aches and pains, runny or stuffy nose, and feeling very tired. Children can have additional symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you have questions please contact me. ~Roberta Sherwood, R.N., BSN,Med
