Happy Labor Day! One more day (or two) until we see you again. If you are dropping off your child, a staff member will meet your child outside. Only the student should get out of the car. When picking up your child, you will have a sign for your car and a staff member will greet you outside and communicate with the office to dismiss your child/children. Again, you must stay in the car. This will take a little longer than we're used to, so please bear with us as we all get used to this new procedure.
PES parents/guardians, be sure to check your email for today's Back to School Letter and complete the survey before August 17th. They are also available in the NEWS section at www.phippsburg.rsu1.org. Thank you.
Please join us in viewing the 5th Grade Ceremony at the link below. Congratulations! https://youtu.be/er-Gx3lBsyM
Time is getting short, don't forget to drop off any school materials. There is a table for you to place items on in the front of the school. We are missing many library books, please take a minute look around to see if you might have one.
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to pick up their child's materials. We're working on getting things back to everyone. We'll be in contact with you individually this week and next. Stay safe!

This just in..... PES Math Team takes THIRD place at the Southern Maine Elementary Math League meet held today in Portland.
SAFETY NOTE With the snow melting, sun getting stronger and temperatures rising, the staff and I have noticed that children who are being picked up are not heading straight to vehicles. We think it's wonderful that children are playing outside with friends. However, for safety reasons, I'm asking that parents, grandparents or others who pick up students head out back to our safe and spacious playground. Running around and playing with friends on the front lawn, that is so very close to the road, is extremely dangerous. Again, there are many fun pieces of equipment to use on the playground and even a bench and picnic table for adults who are supervising to sit and visit. Please help us get everyone home safe and sound.
Take a minute to check out the Outdoor Classroom web page to see all the great things students are learning. https://sites.google.com/rsu1.org/pesoutdoorclassroom/experiences?authuser=0

Fourth graders had an excellent and educational field trip to the Maine Maritime Museum last week to participate in their Wabanaki program. We observed the differences between pre-Columbian and post-Columbian canoe building techniques, then donned official curator gloves to explore various Wabanaki artifacts as we formed ideas about their uses and how they were made. Lastly, we had the chance to test our fishing skills with the use of a Leister spear as we "fished" for cucumbers! The kids had a blast and learned a lot!
