CELEBRATIONS!

Great things are happening at WCS!

Fifth graders began instrumental studies this week! Their families have been extremely supportive in helping them to obtain instruments such as the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion and we are looking forward to adding this wonderful opportunity back into our school year!  Mrs. Joray is so excited to work with this particular team of interested young musicians, especially at a time when the creative arts is more necessary than ever.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE SCHEDULE AND SIGN UP

Conference days will look a little different this month!

Grades Pre K through 5 will have remote learning days on Thursday and Friday, 3/25 and 3/26.

Grades 6, 7 & 8 will have half days on Thursday and Friday, 3/25 and 3/26 and will attend in-person on their cohort day.

All middle school students will arrive at 8:20AM. Both early and late groups will be dismissed for buses at 11:50AM, with parents picking up at 12:00pm

WCS conferences will be held virtually on Thursday 3/25 from 12:00pm - 6:00pm.

As in years past, we will be scheduling Parent Teacher Conferences online with PTCFast.com. On the WCS website you’ll find a link to be able to schedule a conference for all of your children. If you do not have internet access, you can call the office (443-9739) and we will schedule the conference(s) for you, or answer any questions.

Click on www.woolwich.rsu1.org, then on “Parent Teacher Conference” and “Sign Up” to schedule your children.

                       A NOTE FROM MR. HUTCHINGS

There is an exciting new unit coming our way in PE class!  Our 2nd through 8th graders will be using non-motorized, trick scooters in the upcoming weeks.  This new unit will involve students maneuvering around the track on our new scooters and will help develop students’ balance, endurance, and confidence. When it is your student’s PE week, feel free to send them with their own bike helmet from home.  I also have helmets here that were purchased, but some students and families may prefer their own, which is fine!  I am really looking forward to this unit and can't wait to see the kids using the fun new equipment.       ~ Mr. Hutchings

PTA NEWS

Where's the Wildcat is here! We have hidden 10 Woolwich staff members in our first Where's the Wildcat puzzle for students to find (there're two more coming!). Use our handy Google form to check off the boxes next to each staff member found in the puzzle, and students will be entered to win a prize raffle! Here's a quick link to our Google Form: http://bit.ly/3qW0MOY so your Wildcats can get hunting right away!

Our next PTA meeting will be held virtually on April 7th at 6 PM. Please note that this is a week earlier than our regular meeting schedule. Our Zoom ID is 594 438 4333- we'd love to have you join us and see what we're all about!

HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS

As Covid shots are being offered at various locations, and for different groups of people, if you are interested in getting one and are having difficulty either signing up for a time OR do not have a ride to get there, please reach out to me and I or someone I know will help.  I do NOT have any special connections to get you a shot, but if your group is able I will try to help.

Spring is on the horizon and I anticipate more classroom windows open and increased time outside so please send your student in the appropriate attire.  Layers are always best so that hot or cold, mud or wet, students are prepared.

Lastly, I’d like to send out a general shout-out to anyone who is experiencing food insecurity.  Do NOT be embarrassed; please contact me via email or phone here at school and I can help.  I have a small pantry here, and access to other food and I totally understand what it means to be completely confidential. I care and I want to help all I can.          ~Nurse Sherwood
