CELEBRATIONS!

Great things are happening at WCS!

  • Mrs. Babcock’s 3rd grade class participated in Global Read Aloud this Wednesday and had a virtual author visit from Anna Stanizewski who has written over a dozen books for children!

  • BONJOUR! Pre-K has enjoyed listening to picture books, read in French, by our own Mrs. Joray, Mrs. Lapin, and Mr. Lucas! One of our wonderful Pre-K students speaks French with her family at home, and they generously shared books with our class to read.  We enjoyed listening to a new language and we are thankful for our teachers and the time they shared with us. Pre-K is awesome!

  • Mrs. Gibbs’ Life Skills class just completed a unit on penguins. Students enjoyed studying these beautiful animals and got to write about the lesson and all that they learned.

HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS

Beginning the next calendar school year (9/1/2021) religious and philosophical objections to vaccines will no longer be viable exemptions in the state of Maine for entry into public schools.  The new law passed in 2019 was delayed one year, but will take effect this year.   I wanted to reach out to each of you early so you could plan ahead for the next school year.  The catch-up immunization schedule for required immunizations indicates it can take up to 8 months for full compliance with school entry requirements, so it would be best to take care of anything now as waiting until the summer may not give you enough time.  The law is LD 798 Chapter 154 if you wish to look it up. I can be reached via phone or email if you have any questions or concerns.  ~Roberta Sherwood, R.N.,BSN,M.Ed

EAT THE RAINBOW!!

Eat the Rainbow is back and here is how it will work! Beginning on 2/8 every day of the week will represent a color…

Monday (February 8th)- Green Day

Tuesday (February 9th)- Orange/Yellow Day

Wednesday (February 10th)- Blue/Purple Day

Thursday (February 11th)- Red Day

Friday (February 12th)- Rainbow Day

On these days, we hope students will wear clothing that coordinates with the specific color of the day!  These days will also include a fruit/vegetable for the color on the school lunch menu for this week!  There will be daily announcements talking about the importance of the different colors and some other fun events happening through classes as well.  I am looking forward to the week and hope you are too!    Sincerely, Mr. Hutchings
