Here is the pdf LINK we made to show the parents how much the hydroponic onions grew!
First we cut the top off a water bottle. Then we flipped that part upside down and set it inside the remaining water bottle 'cup.' The kids then took an onion and set it inside the water bottle. We added just enough water to touch the bottom of the onion.
Next, we placed them in the window for adequate sunlight. Within days, the green sprouts started to grow! During writing time, we were able to record our observations. Each of the children brought theirs home before February break. One family used the greens for tacos, another for soup!
